The Ordinary Hero

Tim Chester's latest book from IVP looks great as usual - The Ordinary Hero: Living the Cross and Resurrection

I look forward to getting it - [edit] summer '09.

"This actually goes back to my own PhD thesis some 15 years ago, the conclusion of which focused on Calvin’s doctrine of the union of the believer with Christ! It’s been brewing away ever since."

Cheers guys! Fascinating post that, Bish, thanks for the link. It struck me from his blurb that these are things I've been pondering for a few years now - how the cross and the hope of glory form and shape the Christian life, particularly in regard to suffering & joy. So I look forward to it being put in a book!

I'm pondering Jonah 2v8 at the moment.... we need grace (salvation from the Lord) but cling to idols... how can we get past that... repenting, but also sharing in the death and resurrection of Jonah... which shows us Christ's which we also pass through in union with Christ. Or I might be way off...

Only the free pdf bit, the end of which has the very helpful comment "God is God and you are not" which is a great beginning for knowing who we are.
